Happy New Year!  

The trick to keeping a New Years Resolution is to keep it SIMPLE!  See the link attached from the American Academy of Peditrics for ideas for our children.  Pick one and try to have the kids stick to it.  Of course it is up to us as parents to encourage them to do it.  It is broken out by age group and I am sure you will find something to fit in with your family.

Let's make this year a better year for working on us!

Sunrise Breakfast

Breakfast literally means "breaking the fast".  Fasting overnight is important for the health of your body and brain. 
Equally important is the breaking of the fast in the morning.  After fasting at night for 8 hours or so, your blood sugar is naturally low and food is what raises it.  When blood sugar gets to low we experience mood swings, fatigue and cravings.  So eat a healthy breakfast to stabilize your blood sugar and start the day feeling satisfied.  This breakfast is great for kids and adults.

Sunrise Breakfast

A slice of whole grain bread toasted
Spread with avocado
Fried egg on top

So simple , healthy and delicious


Easy Healthy Recipe Substitute

Cooking for kids doesn't have to be a chore. I am a busy working mom and I take my kids favorite meals and add a healthy twist to them.  Like..... Cup O  Noodles!!


Take  Cup O Noodles and follow the package instructions.  Fill cup with boiling water and close lid for 3 minutes.

Here comes the healthy part.....
Strain noodles with veggies and toss the liquid.  Add steamed broccoli and REAL  chicken broth.

WaLa... you have a quick, tasty healthy meal your kids will love.
If you want you can add some diced cooked chicken.
Either way,
Yum Yum... Kids will love it!!
